Congratulations to our ASSP Midnight Sun Chapter Award Winners! Chapter President, Seth Wilson, presented the awards at our Chapter meeting on February 7th, 2019.
Kelly Lawson was awarded the Golden Hard Hat Award. This award promotes excellence in promoting SHE in the community and promoting the SHE/RM profession. Kelly Lawson is the President of American Health and Safety LLC. He has been a member of our Chapter since 2015. Kelly has a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (OHST), is an OSHA 30 trainer, Fall Protection Trainer, Automotive lift inspector, home inspector, Cescl , CQM, and Fall rescue, to name a few. Kelly started his business just five years ago and has become a well respected Safety Professional in our community.
John Marquart was awarded the Chapter Mover and Shaker Award. This award recognizes up and coming leaders and professionals. John Marquart, otherwise known as “Safety John” works for Doyon Utilities on Ft. Wainwright. He has been a member of the Midnight Sun Chapter for 1-1/2 years, but associated with ASSP for nearly 20 years. John is very passionate about the organization and helping the community as well. He has turned Doyon’s safety culture in a whole new direction.
June Moore was awarded the President’s Award. This award is the Chapter President’s choice that is given to a person that has contributed to the betterment of the Chapter. June Moore is an Industrial Hygienist with Preventive Medicine at Fort Wainwright, recently getting her CIH in April 2018. She has lived in Alaska for the last 23 years, is married, and has two little boys. June has been a member of ASSE Midnight Sun Chapter since 2009. June served as Secretary for the Chapter for four consecutive years , took a year off, and then rejoined us this year, and works behind the scenes keeping Chapter records, the website, and Facebook updated.
Don Maynor was presented a Certificate of Appreciation for all of his hard work and dedication to the Chapter since 2006. Don is leaving us and moving to Anchorage to start a new job. Don has been with the Midnight Sun Chapter since 2006 and has served in all positions of leadership over the years. He believes that membership and participation in the ASSE, especially the local chapter, is essential in professional development and provides a means for safety professionals to work together for the benefit of safety in our workplace and communities. Thank you Don for all of your hard work over the years. You will be missed.
OSHA 30 Class in Fairbanks – January 7th thru 10th, 2019

Happy New Year from your friendly local Health and Safety Company, American Health and Safety, LLC!
We would like to share with you an opportunity to attend an OSHA 30 Construction Course taught right here in Fairbanks at Arctic Fire Training Center.
This class is required for all foremen and superintendents that will be working on any government jobsite.
This class is also great for educating companies and their representatives about their responsibilities under OSHA and how that impacts the day to day operations.
This exciting class is scheduled Jan.7-10, 2019 from 8-4:30 pm. Please see attachment for more details about the class.
